Honeysuckle Rose 04/29/2010

The office is filled with activity this morning.  We're in the final stages of bringing Openers to you next week.  It's an exciting, chilling story with an unusual but compelling narrative style and unusual but compelling heroes.  Yes, plural.  There are all levels of heroism in this story, and if you want to see a crime thriller where even the 'little people' play a part, this is the one.  It's a murder mystery!  It's a crime drama!  It's a romance!  It's a tale of enduring trust and friendship!  It's going to be available next week!  So buy it!

The office is also filled with the sweet scent of honeysuckle.  Manservant!Geeves put a sprig of it on the Boss' desk this morning and it makes the whole place smell of summer.  It's hard to concentrate on work when the fragrance makes you want to kick off your shoes, lie in the grass and look for shapes in the clouds.

The Boss thinks I ought to get back to work, but before I go...a little taste of summer for you:

A Matter of Money 04/24/2010

Good morning.  It' a lovely, cool Saturday, and we opened the office late, but hit the carpet running.  We're on track to have Openers live by Cinco de Mayo, and we are setting up for our first official Inknbeans Press Promotion at the end of May.  Exciting times around here.

We've had a couple of nice notes from people telling us they like the place, are looking forward to Michael E Benson's book, Openers, and want to purchase from us, but they don't know how.

Go to our library to select a book.  Each book has a link to our fulfillment people; digital books are provided by Smashwords in a lot of different digital formats - including iPad, iPhone and Blackberry.  We decided to use them because they had access to all these formats and all their catalogs.  Click on the link, and it will take you directly to that book's estore, where you can select format, and payment method.

For print versions, the link will take you to our estore at Createspace.  Use the coupon we've provided to get fifteen percent off the list price.

So...go buy a book, find a tree, a delicious beverage of your choice, and enjoy.  I've got to get back to work.

Star Bright 04/21/2010

The Boss went to Disneyland yesterday...only person I know who loves Disneyland in the rain.  I preferred to cozy up with soft blankets, a nice fire, a good book and a cup of tea, but the Boss was splashing puddles and breaking plates.  The result was one chapter finished and notes on at least two more.

And this.

Make wish.  Have a good day.

Springery 04/19/2010

Spring is blooming around Inknbeans.  The Boss and Manservant!Geeves put out a new flower bed in the back garden.  Seven or eight different fragrance varieties.  I'm sure the rabbits in the canyon will find them delicious.

Spring's been pretty flowery in the office, too.  Some nice comments are coming in about A Plane Proposal - one reader referred to it as a 'journey' book, with many memorable scenes along the way, as opposed to a 'destination' book, where all that matters is the ending; Wife in the Mirror was called tightly woven romantic mystery filled with plenty of twists, turns, and adventure; and Learning to Be Irish was considered enjoyable by several readers.

No comments yet on the newest released, Calling All Hearts, but I'm certain that will change soon.

Of course the big news is that we're all hip deep in preparations to get Openers, by Michael E. Benson, on the shelf by May 1st.  It's exciting and scary.  Written by a former police investigator, it reads like a cross between a police report and diary.  The dialog is genuine, the voices are true, the terror is truly genuine.  If you like thrillers, put this one on your to be read pile.

Have a great Monday and don't forget to stop and smell the flowers.

Check out Updates for a sneak peak of Calling All Hearts.  It's a pivotal scene in the development of the story.  It's pretty exciting, too.

And speaking of exciting, here's some more of the glorious springtime around here:

What a Ride 04/06/2010

If you live in the Southwestern part of the US, or in Baja California, you felt it.  7.2 magnitude earthquake right in the middle of Easter dinner.

It started out with the doors rattling a little, as they do in a strong wind.  And then things around us started to rattle. It lasted several seconds.  And then...for a full count of fifteen, the house bounced up and down like a basketball.  Some people, in other areas, described it as a rolling motion, but here it was up and down and up and down.  No damage, no cracks or things flying off the wall.  It was an earthquake, Disney style.

Have you read Plane Proposal yet?  What about Wife in the Mirror or Learning to Be Irish?  If you like contemporary relationship fiction, there's another one coming out April fifteenth called Calling All Hearts.  About a policewoman, and a cold, heartless man.

And more exciting news.  It looks as if our new crime thriller will be on the shelves sometime in May.  If you're a fan of CSI...this isn't for you.  This was written by a cop, about cops.  And bad guys.  Really bad guys.  Set your BVR!*
