Have you ever heard a loved one’s voice after they had departed mortal soil? Have you
ever been given insight of human events from beyond? Have you ever looked Heavenward
and said “Why, God, why?”
When Rob Stuart’s beloved wife, Jo, died, he asked God why. He was a man who had
shared liberal portions of grief and joy, and through his wife’s final request, he journeyed back
through his life - the good and the bad - to find understanding, solace, and peace.
Available at all the usual places. See menu for links and prices.
It's here - The Life and Times of Young Sonny Tompkins
Michael E. Benson's labor of love, the story of twelve year old Sonny Tompkins, is based on his own grandfather's life. Growing up in the Great Depression, Sonny didn't feel deprived because he was loved and encouraged, kept fed and warm, living with his father and grandparents. When an angry little man makes trouble for his family, Sonny's entire life changes. Sent to live with his uncle in the mountains of Utah, Sonny learns to hunt, work with horses and live off the land. The days of fishing and swimming and playing with friends give way to fighting for survival and the mysteries of life and love.
Available in print and most digital outlets. See our menu board for links and prices.
Lone Jack Author Shares Stories
Denise Kirby of the Lone Jack Corridor went to visit Michael E. Benson just before he and his wife left Missouri to winter in Texas. According to Michael, it wasn't so much an interview as a congenial chat. They talked about Michael's many years in law enforcement, which served as the inspiration for his Frank Petrovic series, as well his childhood in Kansas, where he grew up listening to the family stories that would be the foundation of his upcoming book, The Life and Times of Young Sonny Tompkins. He says he 'might' have mentioned Inknbeans Press and all his fans here. Thanks for the nod, Michael.
If you like historical dramatizations, or coming of age stories, or both, watch for The Life and Times of Young Sonny Tompkins, coming for Christmas. It will make a great gift for kids living through today's economic hardships, or those who were kids during the Great Depression.
Here's How Michael Describes Alvarado's Woman
Frank Petrovic is back, retired from the police department and head of his own private detective agency. In New Mexico, Tommy Alvarado has a problem. His stepdaughter has disappeared and the locals, headed by Tommy's outraged father-in-law, have rushed to judgment and called it murder. Tommy is charged with the crime and from his jail cell he realizes that only Frank can save him from being convicted of a crime he did not commit. Frank and his sidekick, Benny the Bug, leave no stone unturned in their quest for the missing girl. Dodging bullets and crooked politicians, Frank and Benny are "on the job." You'll find it difficult to put this book down without finishing it and the ending is as surprising as it is gratifying.
How would you describe it?
Alvarado's Woman
He's done it again. Michael E. Benson once again opens the case files and introduces us to more of the darkness, the determination and the desperation of Frank Petrovic's mysteries. Can money make racism acceptable? Can power point the finger at the wrong man? Is saving face more important than saving a young girl's life? Frank thinks the answer to all three is a resounding no, and he's going to prove it.
