Lone Jack Author Shares Stories
Denise Kirby of the Lone Jack Corridor went to visit Michael E. Benson just before he and his wife left Missouri to winter in Texas. According to Michael, it wasn't so much an interview as a congenial chat. They talked about Michael's many years in law enforcement, which served as the inspiration for his Frank Petrovic series, as well his childhood in Kansas, where he grew up listening to the family stories that would be the foundation of his upcoming book, The Life and Times of Young Sonny Tompkins. Here's How Michael Describes Alvarado's Woman
Frank Petrovic is back, retired from the police department and head of his own private detective agency. In New Mexico, Tommy Alvarado has a problem. His stepdaughter has disappeared and the locals, headed by Tommy's outraged father-in-law, have rushed to judgment and called it murder. Tommy is charged with the crime and from his jail cell he realizes that only Frank can save him from being convicted of a crime he did not commit. Frank and his sidekick, Benny the Bug, leave no stone unturned in their quest for the missing girl. Dodging bullets and crooked politicians, Frank and Benny are "on the job." You'll find it difficult to put this book down without finishing it and the ending is as surprising as it is gratifying.
